String quartet plays Friday at SHS

The string quartet Sultans of String performs at 7 p.m. Friday at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center as part of the Mason County Community Concert Association’s annual series. Tickets are $30 for adults, and people younger than 18 are admitted for free. Information: 360-426-1842.

Pioneer Kiwanis seafood dinner/auction March 25

The Pioneer Kiwanis Foundation hosts its annual seafood dinner and auction at 4 p.m. March 25 to benefit the youths of the Pioneer School District and Mason County.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $15 for children ages 3 to 10, and kids younger than 3 admitted for free.

Auction items include gift baskets and certificates, lodging getaways, and works by local artists.

Money raised at the event will go to six scholarships for Pioneer Middle School eighth-graders to be used for post-high school education, and four scholarships for high school graduates from the Pioneer School District attending Cedar, CHOICE, North Mason and Shelton high schools. The Pioneer Kiwanis Foundation funds other local programs as well, including the STEM garden at Pioneer Schools.

Color and converse at Shelton library

Friends of the Shelton Library are sponsoring a free program called Colorful Conversations, where participants color sheets and have conversations. The program debuts from 1 to 2 p.m. March 23 at the library at 710 West Alder St.

The program is also hosted at the same time on April 27, May 25, June 22, July 27 and Aug. 24. Children are welcome to attend with a participating adult.

Light refreshments are provided, and reservations are not required. For more information, call the library at 360-426-1362.
