Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886

Constance 'Connie' Elaine (Fredson) Johnson

Constance 'Connie' Elaine (Fredson) Johnson passed away at home on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at the age of 69. She was born on April 23rd, 1953, in Shelton, Washington, to Ken and Alice (Greenwalt) Fredson.

Connie never hesitated to open her heart and home to those in need, offering love and support unconditionally. She always put herself last, giving her heart and soul to help someone. Her ability to comfort those around her by accepting and loving them as they were, without judgment, was special and rare...her family will miss this most.

Connie's first official job was working for the Mason County Sheriff's Office (see article insert) before heading to college and then to work for the Governor after graduation. During this time, she met the love of her life, Dean Johnson, and went on to marry him. When her mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Connie left her job at the Governor's office to care for her. Not only did she care for her mother, but she also extended her care giving and began an in-home daycare. After helping to raise her 'Daycare' kids, as well as her own, she and her husband went to work for FEMA. It was this job that made her dream of travel possible while allowing her to continue to help people in need at the same time. Although she traveled cross country several times, she was never able to achieve her dream of visiting Hawaii. Her family feels she is probably having the best time learning to hula in heaven. The squirrels continued to be well taken care of with the industrial size bag of peanuts kept by her front door at all times.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children; son Craig (April) Johnson, daughter Kari (Ben) Waylett, bonus daughter Melissa 'Lou' Brush; grandchildren; Easton Waylett, Kaia Johnson, Kena Waylett, Baylor Olson, and Molly Olson; and her brothers Jeff Fredson and Michael Fredson.

She was a dedicated mom, Grammy, sister, cousin, best friend, surrogate mom, aunt, neighbor and caregiver. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on January 28th, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Arcadia Fire Hall.
