Shelton defeats Rochester 21-7

Shelton scored 14 points in the third quarter to pull away for a 21-7 victory against Rochester in an Evergreen Conference football game Sept. 23 at Jack Stark Field at Highclimber Stadium.

The Warriors scored first with a Braden Hartley 3-yard run and a 7-0 lead. Shelton responded on the next drive and tied the game, with Shelton quarterback Mason Goos pump-faking a pass before throwing a 22-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Menefee. The game was tied at 7 at halftime.

Goos completed his second touchdown pass of the game in the third quarter with a 4-yard pass to Dante Trikoff. The Highclimbers capped the scoring before the end of the third quarter, with Bradley Eleton taking the snap out of the wildcat formation and running through the right side for a 42-yard rushing touchdown.

Goos ended the game 7 of 12 for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Bradley Eleton had four carries for 83 yards and a score. Conner Gilman had 14 carries for 39 yards. Dante Trikoff led the wide receivers with six catches for 48 yards and a score.

Eleton led the defense with six tackles and an interception. Hunter Leth, Mario Boxley, Jerome Nichols (Gouley) and Logan Peach each had a tackle for loss.

Shelton (3-1, 1-1) hosts Montesano on Friday in a nonleague game.
