Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886

Julia "Judy" Joaquin

Julia "Judy" Joaquin was called to heaven by her Lord and Savior on May 14th, 2022, at the age of 81 years. Judy was born in Duvall, Washington, October 29th, 1940, and graduated high school from Kings Garden HS, Seattle in 1958. After high school, she attended college in Three Hills Alberta, Canada. She was the youngest of five siblings born to Margaret and Edward Wright. Judy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jerry Joaquin, her sister Jacqueline West of Portland OR, her two children, and five grandchildren: daughter, Deborah Knowles Goossens of Stockton, CA (Paul and Kendra), and son Mark Knowles and daughter in-law, Jennifer Knowles (Logan, Lucas, and Eva). She was preceded in death by siblings Peggy Johnson, Coralee Wright and Edward Wright, and son-in-law, Frank Goossens.

Judy enjoyed being with family, reading, watching any sporting event grandkids were playing, studying genealogy, travelling the world, and serving her Lord and community through music ministry in Mason County. She was a talented pianist, committed wife, mother and grandmother, and a consistent and constant friend to many in the Belfair community. In addition to serving her family and faith community, Judy worked at the Supply Department in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 2005 after a 20 year career.

She will be missed but remembered fondly for her great sense of humor and exceptional laugh, as well as her uncanny ability to dominate a card game.

A memorial is being planned for Saturday, May 21st, 2022 at North Bay Lutheran Church in Allyn 3:00 p.m.
