Junietta Louise Milam

Junietta Louise Milam, 76, died February 25th, 2022, surrounded by family in Matlock, WA. A celebration of life will be held at Matlock Community Church at 11 AM on March 26th. June was born December 16, 1945 in Seattle, Washington to Charles and June Dimm.

She was devoted to her family, helping raise her siblings throughout her childhood. As a child and young adult she was a member of All Saint's Lutheran Church. She graduated from Federal Way High School and soon after began working as a wiring technician for Boeing. She married Brad Milam in 1970 and they bought a home together in Federal Way. They welcomed two children together before moving to Matlock in 1977. Over the next 45 years June spent her time raising her children and was blessed with six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She worked as a janitor for Mary M. Knight High School, opened her own janitorial business, and worked at Walmart in the maintenance department. She had a great sense of humor, was strong willed and quite opinionated.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, pinochle, painting, sewing, crocheting, hosting family and friends, and had a fierce love for watching and listening to sports. She supported the Seattle Seahawks, the Seattle Mariners, and the Washington State Huskies. She had a deep appreciation for the Olympics, figure skating in particular. June was a long-time member of the Matlock Community Church and Ladies Club. She loved her family and friends and was an outstanding member of the Matlock community for several years prior to her stroke in 2011. Over the next 10 years she enjoyed volleyball, basketball, and football games at Mary M. Knight where everyone loved her and felt able to call her "Grandma June". She loved all the kids and community members, always reaching out for a hug and kiss on the cheek as you walked by.

She was able to be present for many milestones in the lives of her grandchildren and will forever be loved and missed. She is survived by stepdad Bill; siblings, Murray, Pamela and Jack; children Karen and Brian; stepchildren Debbie and Doreen; grandchildren Andrew, Ashley, Clay, Miranda, Kaylee, Tayden, and Cade; and two great grandchildren Carter and one due in May. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and June, stepdad Jack, and her brother Donald. The family would like to express a special thank you to June's lifelong friend and caregiver, Sharon Blackston.
