Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
Patricia Jean Stratton passed away after a long illness, September 30, 2021, surrounded by her loving family in Shelton, Washington. Pat was born March 22, 1930 to George and Mildred Coons in Tacoma, Washington. While living in Idaho, Pat met Vernal Franklin Stratton, the love of her life. Vern and Pat were married April 12, 1947, a blessed union that lasted for 74 years.
Vern and Pat loved traveling and camping with their family. Pat was a wonderful and inventive cook, so their travels were spiced by Pat's culinary surprises. Vern has always been a great gardener, and whatever he grew, Pat cooked and canned.
Pat loved life and her family, as well as our Creator Jehovah God, and his Son, Jesus Christ. Both she and Vern engaged in volunteer work, assisting in building and remodeling meeting places of Jehovah's Witnesses.
One of Jehovah's Witnesses all her life, Pat symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God, in 1952, by being baptized in water. Pat had strong faith in the Bible's promise of a new world free from pain, sickness and death. She believed that soon Jesus Christ would become ruler of the whole earth, and that hope sustained her throughout her long illness. Her favorite expression about that hope was, "It's just around the corner."
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings: Georgina Coons, Marvin Coons, George, Jr. "Bud" Coons, Leonard Coons, and Robert Coons. Pat is survived by her husband Vern, as well as their five children: Gary Stratton (Lona), Joyce Davis, Ricky Stratton, David Stratton (Susan), and Kevin Stratton; also survived by her sister Dorothy Mills, and brother, Richard Coons, as well as thirteen grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
