County hiring temporary COVID positions

Mason County commissioners approved the hiring of temporary community services public health positions.

The county is hiring a full-time temporary public health nurse to focus in COVID-19 response.

According to the briefing packet, some of the duties for this position include providing professional public health nursing and case management services to people over the phone and the public health office is the primary worksite. This position is responsible for disease investigation, monitoring, treatment and reporting and will work with other public health COVID teams to track case statistics and educate the public.

The county is also hiring Community Health Specialists and COVID Education and Response Specialist.

According to the briefing packet, the job will perform public health COVID related educational and guidance services. It will also plan, organize, coordinate, implement and monitor COVID related tasks.

The duties for the position include providing professional services including answering public and business phone calls about COVID services and follow up on positive case reports and contact tracing. The position will also research current state department of health and Center for Disease Control information on COVID and prepare information and reports for leadership and community release.
