Warm for the 'Hawks?
Seattle Seahawk coach Mike Holmgren's personal sideline jacket for last Saturday's playoff game in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is displayed the week before the game by Shelton brothers Sam (left) and James Densley after the company their mom Andrea works for Gerbing's
Heated Clothing of Union custom-fitted it and more than a dozen other such Seahawk game-time garb expressly for the frigid weather. Miniature battery-powered heating units were installed free of charge "We just did it as a fan , to help 'em," is how
Gerbing's chief operations officer Chris Haffly put it in the likes of kicker Josh Brown's uniform pants and in the handwarmer fanny pack worn by quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Gerbing's was asked by Seahawk management to keep everything under wraps
so as not to run afoul of possible NFL rules precluding use of such devices in the actual, er, heat of battle, but word is now that they went over so well that Green Bay fans are expressing an interest in purchasing from the Union firm. Yes, the host
Packers sent the Seahawks packing by a 42-20 count.

AND WHY NOT? As the handcrafted wooden message board so prominently points out above the ticket-takers' heads there in Owl Gymnasium, Mary M. Knight hoopdom's boys and girls alike are
atop the league this season both squads by way of matching 9-2 records after Friday's twin victories over visiting Wishkah. Enjoying himself in the Owls' traditional sparkling green headgear, top left, is grade-schooler Ian Frost. Leading
a chant in cheerleader incarnation after her point-guard role not an hour before for the varsity girls' team is Amanda Vera (near right). And inset from the top are '07 MMK grad and all-league cager Sean Brehmeyer with a young fan; Shelby
Adsero scoring for the host girls; Ethan Johnson doing the same for the boys; teammate Dean Goldy noogying coach Tim Diggle's son Dakota before player introductions; cheerleaders (from left) Amanda Beste, Brit Bowman and Cassy Willey exhorting
the Owl faithful, and girls' coach Lance Valley's daughter Jaycee demonstrating her understandably inflated allegiance courtside. As for the on-court action, it saw the hosts prevail 71-37 in the boys' battle and 61-37 in the girls'. |
SCENES FROM CLIMBERVILLE'S mat duel with Capital last week find the hosts'Ronald Yates (midpage left) sharing the moment with '07 grad and former teammate Ty Barnhart after his victory
at 171 pounds. Inset clockwise from the top are the hosts in shadowy premeet warmup, Alex Cannon getting the upper hand, Damion Shehan on the verge of doing the same, Juan Lopez nearing his pin win, the Climber faithful on matside alert,
cheerleaders (from left) Janessa Beem, Dee Sigmond, Emma Crateau and Marti Peterson doin' their thing and Josh Ackley handfighting for an escape. |
