       April 10: Gerrold A. Graham, 64, of Hoodsport, was found dead off U.S. Forest Service Road 2441 by searchers on Saturday. His pickup truck had gotten stuck in the snow near Mount Ellinor on Friday afternoon. His body was found about 15 feet off the roadway after a 10-hour search. After 24 years on the beat, Shelton Police Sergeant Jerry Lingle is turning in his badge. His last day will be on April 22. Lingle, who grew up in a small Southern Illinois town, said he wanted to be a cop since he was 4 years old. Shelton city commissioners will now seek voter approval for a permanent property tax levy lid lift to fix residential streets. The commissioners voted to place the measure on the August 19 primary election ballot. It would raise the regular property tax levy to $3.60 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The Port of Hoodsport Commission has hired Richard W. McEachin as its first director. He has 36 years of experience in public administration, including 25 with the Antioch Police Department in Northern California. Mason County plans to relocate the coroner’s

and sheriff’s offices into the Saint Edward’s Catholic Church Parish Hall sometime after March 2010, when a new church is expected to be finished on Mountain View. John W. Gray, 54, of Spokane, died on April 5 while scuba diving in Hood Canal. He was participating in a class near Eldon. Tasi Williamson, 18, a North Mason High School senior, died on Friday, April 4, in a single-vehicle wreck on the Bear Creek-Dewatto Road in Belfair. Former Shelton High School football and basketball star Mark Tuson has been voted into the Mason County Sports Hall of Fame. He is a 1975 SHS graduate. He went on to play football at Idaho State.
