THRICE VICTIMIZED BY Thursday night's windstorm, an unoccupied house on Dickinson Street in Shelton's Hillcrest area bears workers' added weight as cleanup commences. A rental owned
by Shelton's Keith and Kathy Fuller, it sustained extensive roof damage estimated at $20,000 or more. "It was wild ," said Mrs. Fuller. (Editor's note: Readers with similar wind-damage photos are asked to submit them to The
Journal by noon of next Tuesday.) |
AND TRIBAL MEMBERS gathered with county officials and other friends to commemorate it, too, when the new Skookum Creek Bridge got its official sendoff Wednesday afternoon. Tribal
chair Jim Peters (near right) led the function, which included ceremonial drumming and figurative unveiling of a piece of the old bridge (inset near). |
ROLAND QUINN, a lifelong Sheltonian, believes people should be lifelong learners. A retired teacher, Quinn has given a $21,000 endowment split evenly between Olympic College Shelton
and Pioneer School District. |
Joe Rank of Shelton shows off a large parsnip that he grew in his backyard this summer. This one weighed a strapping two pounds. He said they can go in stews, or be cut up and fried
or baked. |
TO THE ANIMATION of matside sisters Amanda Oliva (top right) and Rocio Garfias (top left), Climber junior Isaac Garfias (yes, their brother) plots his escape from the clearly compromised
position in which he finds himself (inset center) during Shelton's Holiday Wrestling Tournament Saturday in the Minidome. Protecting the delicate sensibilities of Rocio in the inset just off Isaac's brow is neighbor Jovane Hernandez. About
to escape en route to a technical-fall victory in the near-right inset is the Climbers' Casey Chamberlin, and that's Casey's veteran-volunteer sister Brittany alongside colleague-in-aid Katie Madison and Climber wrestler Isidro "Chilo" Antonio
in the near-left inset. And what's our friend Isaac up to in the nearmost photo? Tryin' and without much success, it would appear to get a little shut-eye back at the hosts' bleacher section between matches. |
Nativity novices live it up
The annual living nativity production at the Jeff and Nancy Peterson place brightens another barnful out in rural Agate the weekend before last. 'Candlelit' in song at top right
is Alesha Beckwith. Joseph and Mary are portrayed in this Christmas spectacular by Scott Worf and Shelaine Peterson. The hamming in the near photo? Presumably unrelated to the other between-shows distraction the Nintendo of the lowermost
inset.
