GARY NICLOY LOVED to play, teach and listen to music. The 75-year-old man who had a 38-year teaching career in Shelton died last week when his car plunged into Pickering Passage.

A FRIEND admires the Purple Heart medal on Sergeant Bill Campbell's Army uniform. Campbell, who was wounded in Iraq in November 2004, received the medal last Friday from U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell.

MOSES AND LOIS Kirika didn't plan to move to Shelton. They were just on their way to visit their son in college when they decided to seek legal residency in the United States. The Kenyans are the subject of the What's Cookin' feature this week.

SHELTON'S TERESA GARDNER returned from Iraq with a beau in her hair. While serving as a military intelligence officer in Tikrit, she met Teddy Wenner, aide to a U.S. general there. The army captain is the subject of a news story this week.
