Back at ya
To the delight of those who'd just turned over the spotlight, Shelton's S.O.C.K. "Thank You" Celebration gives way to youthful entertainment earlier this month in the Armory.
S.O.C.K., or "Save Our County's Kids," marked the seventh anniversary of its youth-center services here as sponsor of the Shelton Community Center. Director Sue Sheldon (right, near, with honored guests Vi Cruickshank and Rob Wilson-Hoss)
thanked the community for making it posible for S.O.C.K. to help the more than three thousand kids who've come through its doors. Cruickshank and Wilson-Hoss were recognized for their ongoing leadership roles in the organization, as was
now-president Kathy Haigh, who was unable to attend. Among the young entertainers that evening were Tyray McGrew, Larissa Brown, Brian Benjamin, Cheyenne Overlin and Jareau Afo. Sheldon reminded guests that S.O.C.K. still needs the community's
monetary support.

Serving up 'snowman soup'
To celebrate the season and give back to the community, students from the North Mason School District's vocational education classes created a tasty holiday project to share
with the children at the North Mason Food Bank. The students worked hard over the last two weeks to fill 220 red and green hand-made stockings with the ingredients for a special "snowman soup." Megan Bishop, left, and Amanda Hoover, right,
and their classmates distributed the snowman soup stockings at the food bank on Monday and were assisted by Guy Townsend, a North Mason Food Bank volunteer. The "soup" is a tasty treat that includes hot chocolate with chocolate kisses, marshmallows
and a candy cane.
