STARRING IN THE REMEMBERER are, from left to right, Marjorie Penn, Tamika Green and Danielle Cagney in tribal regalia. They tell the story of a Squaxin Island woman with "a lot to remember." Written by Steven Dietz, the play will be staged at 7:30 p.m. on April 16 and 17 in the Shelton High School Auditorium at North 3737 Shelton Springs Road.

THIS HOME HAS BEEN added to the Shelton Historic Register. It was built in 1898 by Allan L. Bell who came to Shelton in 1890. It is now owned by David Hastings and Kathleen Waugh.

RING OF FIRE, a group of schoolkids who have played their handbells at a presidential inauguration and on the East Coast after 9/11, will perform in Shelton on Sunday, April 25. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Shelton High School Auditorium at North 3737 Shelton Springs Road.

Celebrating the birth and rebirth
Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the ghostly image of pictures taken last Christmas of holiday lights in the image of a wrapped package surfaced at the top and on the left of a picture taken when churches in the Shelton area gathered at Kneeland Park on the occasion of Easter Saturday, the day before Christians celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. Also pictured at the event from top to bottom are: McKenzie Salazar corn-dogging it; a bounce house in action; some folks just clowning around; and picnickers chatting while the band played on. In the hope of shedding some light on things, we must confess that the not-so miraculous appearance of an illuminated Christmas gift has to do with the double exposure of film that's been sitting around undeveloped in a photographer's bag for the past four months.

CLIMBER JULI BOLENDER lets fly from the mound in a recent varsity fastpitch game at MCRA. The talented sophomore and her 'mates battled visiting North Kitsap dead even for five of their seven innings Tuesday but paid for a two-run second and another unanswered run in the sixth and bowed 1-4. Juli not only went the distance but had a hit, too as did teammates Steph Robinson, Sara Shintaffer, Kristi Scoles and Caty Phipps.

An eggcellent day
for an Easter egg hunt
Mike Boyle, who has been organizing an annual Easter egg hunt in Belfair since 1997, gazes over a field of eggs seen above before a group of youngsters begins its siege. One of the participants in the second of three candy sprees included 2-year-old Belfair resident Laura Ward and her mom, Danita at left. The event, which is the largest of its kind in the state, featured about 30,000 eggs, 70,000 pieces of candy and 100 special prizes. Boyle's company, North Bay Mortgage, along with the North Mason Chamber of Commerce and Mary E. Theler Organization sponsored the event.

FIRE DISTRICT 2 resident firefighter Lynnae Simons operates the nozzle of a fire hose while fellow resident firefighter Cody Jones helps her steady the line during a fire at the J Bar D storage facility on Saturday that led to an estimated $1 million worth of damage.
