FRIDAY'S NEAR TRAGEDY turns Shelton's intersection of Seventh and Railroad into a bizarre spectacle minutes after the lethal load broke loose. A log truck rounding the corner dropped its load on a Thunderbird, but the four people in the car were not hurt.

THE ROOF OF BUILDING 9 at the Mason County Fairgrounds, a pole building with metal walls, collapsed under the load of about a foot of snow two weeks ago. It was being used to store Fairgrounds equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL SLEUTHS begin probing property belonging to sludge hauler George Harmon last Thursday in the Agate area. Harmon allegedly dumped thousands of gallons of sludge on his land.

KIMBERLY THOMAS POUNDS a nail at the site of her future home in Shelton's Parsley Sage neighborhood. She's part of a self-help program in which low-income people build their own homes.

CAPTAIN RICH ADAMSON, recently retired from the Naval Reserve after a 30-year career, holds a boxed American flag that flew over the USS Missouri. It was a parting gift from his co-workers in the Navy.

ENERGY NORTHWEST is using these windmills to generate electric power that is then sold to customers of PUD 3 as part of the local utility's "green power" program.

THIS GROUP of Boys and Girls Club boosters made an early jump into Case Inlet this week since they will all be away during the club's annual polar plunge event. They are, from left to right, the Hamilton family which includes twin brothers Hunter and Houston and their parents Tom and Lynne. The family was joined by Bonnie Knight who sported a cow costume for her winter swim.
