OYSTERFEST features tons of seafood and the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championships in early October.

32. Rent the Shelton High School Pool for a birthday party. You can call 426-4240 for information.

33. Enjoy world-class entertainment at a Mason County Community Concert Association performance in the Shelton High School Auditorium. Five concerts are scheduled for the 2007-2008 season, all listed on page 72 in this Mason County Profile .

34. See hundreds of classic cars at one of the car shows in Shelton during the summer.

35. Go back to your childhood (or delight a child) at Shelton's toy store, Old Town Hobby, or at Mr. Bill's in Belfair.

36. Look for old stuff at Treasures thrift store in downtown Shelton, one of the county's antiques stores or the Nifty Thrifty on Mountain View.

37. Tour Shelton or Mason County on a Mason Transit bus for free.

38. Attend a sporting event, play, musical or concert at a local school.

39. Take in the annual Rhododendron Society Show in Shelton on Mother's Day weekend at the county fairgrounds.

40. Buy a gallon of fresh-squeezed apple juice and a warm donut at the Harstine Island Apple Squeeze in October at the community hall.

41. Enjoy a free concert, soup and bread in Shelton United Methodist Church's Soup & Sound series on Fridays in December.

42. See lavishly decorated Christmas trees and more at the Mason General Hospital Foundation's Fantasy Forest. It's a four-day extravaganza with trees, food and entertainment at The Pavilion at Sentry Park, November 14-17 this year.

43. Canvass the art at a Peninsula Art Association show in March or May at the Reed Library at Seventh and Alder in Shelton.

44. Listen to a variety of music at the Shelton Old Time Fiddlers Fest or Bluegrass from the Forest in Shelton in April or at a Music in the Park concert in Shelton at the Post Office Park on Second Street. The free music in the park starts at 7 p.m. Thursday nights in July and August.

45. See more than a thousand dogs at the dog shows at the fairgrounds in September.

46. Take a tour of Shelton's historical sites with author Mike Fredson, or grab a brochure at the historical museum and go on a self-guided walk. Look for tour dates with Fredson, local historian.

47. Sit around a campfire and sleep under the stars at a state or national park or national forest campground. The county boasts more than a dozen campgrounds listed on page 68 in this Mason County Profile .

48. Ride a mountain bike in the Tahuya State Forest. To reach the trails, go west on Highway 300 from Belfair and take a right on Sand Hill Road. Go three miles, then turn left on Goat Ranch Road, turn at a large gravel pit and travel to the Big Mission Creek camping area.

49. Join a Mason County Kayak Club paddle. The club is on the 'Net at masoncountykayakclub.org , or call organizer Eric Peterson at 427-1862. Or use Allyn's new kayak park on North Bay near Sherwood Creek.

50. Watch an outdoor movie like you did in 1958 at the Skyline Drive-In. One of the few drive-ins left is just south of Shelton at Taylor Towne on Highway 101. Sorry, no matinees.
