The 2006 state report on those living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) indicates that 21 people in Mason County have been diagnosed with HIV and
78 with AIDS, for a total of 99. There have been no deaths amongst those with HIV and 23 amongst those with AIDS, leaving the state to assume that there are 21 people diagnosed here with HIV and 55 with AIDS. (To be included
in these statistics, they must have been diagnosed here, not moved here after having been diagnosed in another county.)
